Adoption: Nate and Ace (Canine)

ADOPTION STORY: Meet Nate and Ace (canine). Nate served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves for a combined eight years as a Scout and a Combat Engineer. Not long ago, his unit deployed and he lost several close friends in combat, which caused him to experience anxiety during his day-to-day life.

Nate reached out to K2 on April 9th, 2017 to ask if we had any canines up for adoption to help with his anxiety. Fortunately, we had Ace available and they met for the first time just three days later. Ace is a working canine who did not meet the medical standards for his program. Nate and Ace had an instant connection when they met and he explained, “it’s as if Ace chose me.”

K2 checked back in with Nate a few days ago and Ace is adjusting fine. He’s enjoying life after service, where he’s now sleeping on a comfortable bed and presumably being fed from the table – the good life.

Nate continues his life of service and works as a full-time Fire Fighter in North Raleigh, NC.
