K-9, USMC veteran Taker P457 deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in 2009 as a bomb detection dog. He judiciously searched out roadside bombs and other explosives saving countless lives of U.S. soldiers in combat. Sgt. Taker is a 12 year old Black Labrador who was trained at the K2 Solutions Canine Training Center in Jackson Springs, NC. Sgt. Taker was paired with USMC Sgt. Kevin Zuniga during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He has served courageously in 2 U.S. conflicts. He has endured numerous physical injuries, as well as K-9 PTSD. He currently serves as a therapy dog. Taker is considered to be the epitome of an American born Hero.
He was recently awarded the National Lois Pope Hero Dog Award for Military Service
