Community relieved after woman reported missing in Rockingham County is found
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A huge sigh of relief for a family and rescue teams in Rockingham County.
74-year-old Dorcus Lowe, who is said to have dementia issues, is believed to have wandered away from her home on foot last night around 9:30 p.m.
“Her son lives directly behind her. He went to check on her at 5 this morning and she wasn’t there,” said Lt. Jeff Conner with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department.
Search and rescue teams by air and on foot looked for Lowe. A K-9 bloodhound found her not far from her house. She is said to be doing okay and not seriously hurt.
“These dogs are unbelievable with what they can do,” said K-9 trainer Dara Guerra. “It creates a good feeling, the main reason why you become a cop, to help people.”
