HURRICANES AND PNC ARENA PARTNER WITH K2 SOLUTIONS, INC

Canine teams will search the Arena property and interact with guests during events

(RALEIGH, NC) – Don Waddell, President of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes and Gale Force Sports & Entertainment, today announced that the team and PNC Arena have entered into a partnership with K2 Solutions, Inc. (K2) of Southern Pines, NC. The agreement makes K2 Solutions Inc. an Official Partner of the Carolina Hurricanes and PNC Arena.

The partnership will begin July 11, 2017, in support of “The Total Package Tour,” featuring New Kids on the Block with Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men. Guests attending this concert and future events at PNC Arena will see K2’s Person-Borne™ Explosive Detection Dogs (PB-EDD) on-site. Canine teams will search the Arena property and interact with guests as they enter and exit the venue. K2 will be using Labrador retrievers and other sporting breeds, which are family-friendly.

“Our guest experience is our utmost priority,” said Waddell. “The canine teams will enhance our safety and security measures already in place and help ensure guests feel safe while attending events at PNC Arena. We are excited to partner with K2 due to their experience and highly regarded credentials.”

The PB-EDD canines are trained to detect the chemical scent trail of explosives on a moving person. The Department of Homeland Security recently awarded the “SAFETY Act Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation Seal” to K2’s PB-EDD Technology.

“K2 is excited to partner with PNC Arena and the Carolina Hurricanes in serving their guests,” said CEO, Lane Kjellsen. “We’re convinced that this in-state coalition will continue to strengthen our relationship with organizations in Raleigh and the greater NC community, the Hurricanes and the NHL as a whole.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to support the Carolina Hurricanes in further improving their already advanced security posture. We look forward to using PNC Arena as an additional training venue to continue to train our teams in support of other large-venue clients throughout the U.S. with augmented security operations.”
