K2-Trained Canines are Catching the Bad Guys!

K2K9BrixPolice and Sheriff’s Departments from around the country are praising the work of their K2-trained Canines. At a major international airport, “Diesel,” after just one month on the job, helped to seize $87,500 in illegal drug money.

“Echo,” another of our trained detection dogs working out of Rowan County, North Carolina and searching of the DHS drug task force, hit on a bag containing $100,000.

K2 K9’s in Kanawha County, West Virginia, are having immediate and measurable success. In March alone, “Arizona” tracked a fleeing suspect through a field and apprehended him, allowing the K9 Officer to take the felon into custody without injury.

After only two weeks on the job, K9 Djambo tracked a fleeing suspect for over a mile, into a housing development and to the doorstep of a single house. After securing a search warrant, the K9 Officers entered the house and found the suspect hiding inside with the money.

On the same day and at the same time, K9 “Paco,” searched the exterior of a stopped car, alerted on the passenger side door and after being let inside, alerted on the glove box. The K9 officer found marijuana, methamphetamine, and illegal drug money hidden inside.

In another action, K9 “Brix” was called to a business where store owners requested him to search a suspicious package. Brix alerted on the package, and the K9 Officer discovered illegal drugs inside. The Officers were then able to find and take a suspect in the crime into custody.

A federal K9 Officer and his K9 “Bluff” were called to Troy, North Carolina to assist the local Police Department investigating an armed robbery. The K9 team deployed on a two-hour old trail in downtown Troy, tracking at first behind the business and then into a patch of woods. Bluff first detected a discarded full –face toboggan in heavy weeds and then, later, a hidden handgun. Through the use of forensic evidence, a suspect in the case was identified, arrested and is now awaiting trial.

Everyone at K2 is proud of the Officers and their K2-trained K9s and the work they are doing to keep our streets safe. Congratulations to everyone involved in these great success stories!
